State searches can be more complete, but they are not available in all states and certain counties do not report incidents diligently, short of a fingerprint search in the F.B.I.'s N.C.I.C. database; therefore, none of the information is absolutely accurate.

In general, N.C.I.C. information is not accessible for pre-employment purposes, but if someone is listed as a multiple state offender, it usually shows up on the state check rap sheet.

The Target Search includes unlimited county criminal searches from addresses. Unlimited Counties & Social Security Trace, the TARGET search is an extremely effective means of determining if an applicant has a criminal record. The process begins by first searching the candidates social security number, including both the name and address history belonging to that social security number. A listing of the subject’s current and former address history for the most recent 7-year period is extracted from the Social Security Number Trace. County criminal record searches are then processed by Xukor at ALL addresses of residence (regardless of the number of county locations). Average turn-around time is between 2-3 business days.

Accessed via one or more of the 94 U.S. Federal District Courthouses nationwide, a search is conducted for crimes involving violations of federal law (i.e., money laundering, counterfeiting, racketeering, crimes committed across state lines, etc.). Federal criminal record searches are conducted at the specific U.S District Court covering the region where an applicant has resided. Searches are typically conducted to reflect the most recent 7-year period of court record information. It should be noted that federal crimes are separate and distinct from county/state criminal searches, in that the type of crimes are generally different in nature or have been referred to as “White Collar “ crimes. Average turn-around time is between 1-2 business days.

Criminal checks ran at the county level are the most thorough type of criminal check available. Law enforcement officials report charges resulting from arrests on felony, misdemeanor and other offenses at the county court level. The scope of this search covers a minimum of seven years criminal history. Not all states require their counties to report to the state level. Please ask your Xukor representative for state by state information. Average turn-around time varies by county, but typically is between 2-3 business days for a clear record.

Criminal records are researched at the state level. The report includes felony and higher-level misdemeanor charges, information on if an individual received probation or jail time at a state correctional facility since 1979. Results generally include the defendant's name, alias names, date-of-birth, social security, state I.D. and FBI numbers, physical description, county, case number, verdict, verdict date, and sentence information. The scope of this search is typically seven years, but varies by state. Turn-around time also varies by state; the State of Georgia checks are next business day.

Information in the database is compiled from a variety of sources, including local law enforcement, statewide criminal record repositories, state department of corrections records and state parole and probation records.
